Anatomy Drawing Blocking in a Face: Supplies Needed: Pencils and paper.
We are starting with the Anatomy of a how to “Block In” A Face to start with our series of Anatomy classes.
This is a “how to” video that features a drawing study of an older gentleman who lives on the south shore of Long Island, and who worked at my local hardware store in Islip. It is a study for the large painting that I am working on here at Islip Presbyterian Church. I’ll be live-streaming segments of it, as I go.
Coming Up: Drawing A Hand:
Hinges and pulleys, levers and fulcrums… the human form is a marvel of engineering, but many artists just observe superficially and only see “lumps and bumps”. This course has insightful demonstrations and rich visual metaphors, along with activities to facilitate better understanding of human form. Beginning with canons of proportion, we move on to extensive studies of the skeletal structure, and then learn how to layer the muscle onto the skeleton by thinking in terms of the origin and insertion of each muscle. Lastly, we examine the tissue, and discuss differences in body types and gender. With greater understanding we grow in the fluid rendering of the human form.
