Let your imagination come to life:

WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO LEARN

Learn to draw not just what we can see, but what we can think of.  By the end of this course you will design a multifigure composition of a medieval scene consisting of a knight, horse, dragon and castle.
IMPORTANT
This course is still under construction, but if you’d like to start it as we work on it, please feel free! Throughout this course you will draw four subjects from your imagination: a Knight, Castle, Horse and Dragon.  With each of these you will:

  • Create each subject in its geometric form
  • Then Transform its outer contour
  • Add lighting to bring it to life
  • Learn how to fully render each subject into a compelling drawing.
  • Then bring them all together for a final composition with a foreground and background.
  • Level: Year I: Beginner/Intermediate
  • Study time: 30 hours, 0.5 credit
  • Learn to see things geometrically and bring them to life.
  • 30 hrs: 1/2 credit
  • 5 Assessments: Upload your artwork for review!

I. Prepare
Welcome to the second course Drawing from your imagination.  Now that you’ve learned how to draw a sphere, cube, cylinder and cone in three dimensions, you can apply it to drawing fun things from your imagination.  And that is just what you’ll do in this course.  We will spend several lessons drawing four subjects: a knight, a horse, a castle and a dragon. You will learn how to bring each of these subjects from their basic geometric building blocks, defining its contour and then lighting the object to give it dimension.
After completing all four subjects this course will end with a final composition that includes the knight, horse, castle and dragon all together!
II. Supplies: You will not need to buy any additional art materials for this course, then those you used in the first course: sketchbook, pencils, and erasers.  At this
point it is recommended to store your pencils in a pencil roll.

III. Instruction: Each lesson should take 30-40 min.  It is recommended to do at least two a week.  But feel free to use it at your own pace.
Have fun, and let us know how this course works for you. We greatly value your feedback!
