Plein Air Pin Drop™: A series of plein air painting courses offered in different locations throughout Long Island. Each course, taught by Kevin McEvoy, consists of four classes which meet weekly for three hours.
Autumn in Brightwaters, Bayshore; Announcing the October McEvoy Atelier Plein Air Painting Course
After an enjoyable season of painting on the southern canals of Bay Shore, we now move north and are happy to announce the next, four week Plein Air course will be painting in Brightwaters, Long Island, on the beautiful series of lakes and bridges of this unique little town.
This beautiful quiet community just west of downtown Bay Shore features many beautiful features to choose from. This location is near bathrooms, and is also near Bay Shore’s beautiful Main Street.
During the course:
- The first class will feature a demonstration in which Kevin will be teaching how to paint.
- Students will then be encouraged to sketch out their subjects in graphite or charcoal, and to produce a solid study in drawing
- The subsequent weeks will be focused on painting

Getting Started:
Inspired yet intimidated by the idea of painting outdoors? Kevin has a thorough video recorded, with all the materials listed on his YouTube page. You can begin the course with nothing but a pencil and sketchpad, or you can arrive with the full painting setup. But regardless of your level, remember Mark Twain’s words, that “the secret of getting ahead is getting started.”
